Harry's first deer
I got my son Harrison onto his first deer this evening after a couple of tries that saw us spooking deer but not getting the required shot.
We saw quite a few deer including a nice buck but something went wrong with the stalk every time until we got this one at 7pm.
Nothing fancy, but he's pretty stoked to have got it.
The shot was just about perfect, blowing the heart to pieces. A little too much angle, but a really good shot.
The deer ran off at the speed of sound but I'd heard the shot hit and saw it stumble as it went over a rise. We followed the blood trail but the trail disappeared. We looked for about 10 minutes before Harry realised it had keeled over and fallen behind a log.

Way to go! I remember that big smile on my boy's face when he got his first deer. So excited he had to call Grandpa

Congrats to your son on his first deer, and to you for taking him out.
spot and stalks can be extremely diffucult. Deer are very wary.

Good job, Harry. Looks like a fine doe. Clean out that truck before you kill a giant though. Your co-workers get weary when all the building materials are covered in blood. At least mine do.

Great work... How did the teaching of gutting and tagging go? Did the young man get bloody on his first deer?
Great work again!

Hey!
I didn't realise you were from Edmonton, I thought you were local.
Hope your son gets one soon.
