Well, I am a way off from posting any hunting pics with my dog, but I am still pretty happy with him. His name is Tug, and he is 12 weeks now. Come fall, we will have our share of pics.

No, he is not allowed on the furniture, but he decided to jump up one day last week and wifey decided it made for a nice pic.

Great picture Bud. What a great looking dog he is turning into, his sister is heading up your way next week, to GP. By next fall he will be a hunting machine.

Well, we have had our share of dogs. But we have gotten pretty attached to this one fast.

I had a lab Sam, that was 13 when we put him down, that was 9 years ago. We compare all our dogs to him, and they fail badly. That dog was smarten than some of my friends.

Tug is the first pup since that we are comparing to Sam. He sure had a pile of personality.

This is Pinky and the Brain Its really Mako(Weim) and Copper(Lab) and Copper isn't the Brain Its really neat to watch 2 dogs with completely different hunting styles work together. Mako's thinkin "hey boss that there's a real ***** tangle with thorns and such, think I'll just go around and play the wind a bit" Coppers thinkin "Thorns, ***** tangle......CHARGE!"

Had a great year, lookin forward to next!

Yes I run the flushing spaniel with the Pointer, not for the traditionals but it works well.



All of these hunting dogs were rescued from the humane society or county pound. They are all very capable dogs and before spending money at a breeder consider a rescue pup. Just a thought.

Although that instance was peaceful, we have had a tense experience with a similar scenario. Trust me when I say that he and I were taught a valuable lesson!

This is CHARLIE. She helps fill the void and is coming along nicely. She is a humane society mix of Lab/Husky and who knows what else but I'm thinking there's some Ridgeback in there as well. She is a cold weather wonder, not even phased by -40 but I sure am.










I like the century plus guns. Still need to break in a few but here's a couple.

'tis the Boswell with the roosters What a sweet handling gun. Can't get a good date on it but it is likely in the 1880s or maybe late '70s based on the underlever and no SN. Apparently, barrels stamped "not for ball" are dated from 1875 to 1887. I only had one day afield with it this year. I was particularly pleased with the first shot. It was quite windy and the rooster rose into the wind and did a 180 degree turn and came right at me. I waited for it to go by and it had picked up some real speed. The "not for ball" barrel sent the payload perfectly and the rooster dropped dead into heavy weed cover. I had hunted for a few seasons without a hunting dog and even though a second rooster flushed, I was fixed on my mark and headed directly there. The dogs had overshot and I was insisting they have a good sniff around me. They kept wanting to head away (I think there must have been other bird scent around). I turned around and I had almost stepped on the rooster. He was on his back (typical for DOA) but in the weeds he wasn't obvious, as all the coloration is on the back side. Once I knew exactly where it was, I further insisted the dogs spend some time near me. CHARLIE did find it and appeared surprised - I also think she looks a little "sheepish" in the pic. Not sure what that was all about. The second bird was shot and dropped on the other side of a creek I can't just cross. CHARLIE swam across, found the bird, picked it up to show me, dropped it and swam back. She will retrieve a dummy but with a real bird, she seems to feel it is fine to just show me where it is. Of course it took me about 20 minutes to get to a nearby bridge and then come back to the spot. The other dog (a mini-American Eskimo) was down into the weeds and on it right away. I think she has a great nose. I missed the 3rd and limit rooster and it deserved to be missed. I was getting a little over-confident and it was beyond my normal range and I re-discovered why I let them carry on at that range (greater than approx 50 yards).

All in all, I have a good time for a few hours whenever I must go chase some pheasants. And they make a great "organic" meal.

Well I went hunting for birds over a dog for the first time this season, weimariner, 2 gsps, and 2 labs. I now have in the works my own gsp who comes from a great line and shows AWESOME potential I cant wait till shes big enough to run the feilds and chase some birds. I dont have pics for this season but I WILL have lots for next one
