Flies for Alberta Book
Hello Fly Anglers,
In 1998 Denny’s Fly Tying Specialties published a book of Alberta fly patterns titled “Flies for Alberta”. This book was authored by Reg. Denny, Ian Denny, and Roy Ramdeen. The surviving authors feel that this book should live on, and as such they have decided to produce a revised version in electronic format for anyone that wants to have it. The book is still copyrighted and cannot be sold, however it free to use by anyone that wants to download it. It is hoped that by releasing this electronic version, the legacy of the book and the patterns within it will live on!
I will post this on various facebook groups and message boards in the coming days.

Excellent plan. Brought back some great memories.
I have the book autographed by the 3 authors and a very special box of flies tied by Reg that he donated to the Edmonton Trout Fishing Club in March of 2005.
I still tie and use many patterns in the book as they are still very relevant today.

Very odd.
I had a red warning page come up when I went to open the link to OP shared. The warning says the web site has been reported to microsoft for containing programs that may try to steal personal or financial information.
Anyone else get this red warning? My internet security rarely warns me like this.

I got the same Red Screen and Warning as Red Bullets described.
Don't think I'll open it

Are there any hard copy reprints available or original editions out there?
Was it printed in color?
Would like to support the authors and have a copy for the truck or book shelf.
Just curious.

The details of the patterns are printed in black and white but there are 4 full colour pages with photographs of the flies in each category - Dry Flies, Nymphs, etc. - so that one can see what the end product is supposed to look like.
Overall, was very well done. The only types of patterns missing are chironomids and bloodworms, so maybe that was before the chironomid "craze".

Also missing are balanced leech patterns, again something new after the original publication, so maybe an update is indeed merited!

The original is no longer in print, it had some colour pages but not many. The electronic version has more colour, full page pictures of each pattern. I doubt it will ever be printed again.
