Default Cow/Gull Report

Ice is good a both lakes. Stay on tracks if you don't have 4x4. Access at Cow is still good. Access onto Gull at the RV resort is soft and you will need 4x4 with decent clearance to cross the mud. I decided to exit at Sunnyside but it was scary driving over the pressure ridge.

Saturday - Cow lake from Noon to 6pm midway down the lake on the east side. Lots of perch in 4 to 6 inch range, several around 8 and 10 and a couple of 12 inchers.

Sunday - Gull from 11 to 6pm on the north end north of the pressure ridge. 2 perch, one whitefish. Moved around a whole lot trying to find the whiteys, maybe saw 6, where did they go? Settled on a spot when we found perch. Lost a few nice ones on the hookset. Was harassed by a big pike, kept on shredding our perch gear. Finally set up a large jig and actively fished for him. Missed him several times but he was really agressive and kept coming back. Was able to finally hook him but then lost him at the hole.

Anyone noticed that Cow perch are somewhat skinnier than from other lakes? Can you guess which two are from Cow?

Well the top two look to be from Cow because they have the bright yellow, a signature from cow. The bottom one is darker and from the perch I've caught in Gull they are all dark like that.

Yes and the Cow Lake Perch are a much whiter meat then the Gull Lake ones. Good job finding a few good keepers on Cow. The last time we went out we had a hard time finding some 9 inchers. Now Gull on the other hand has been much better.
