6x47 Remington
any thoughts on this cartridge. I have a chance to buy one at a reasonable price. This isn't the lapua but rather a 222 rem mag punched out to 6mm. I understand 204 brass could be used to form. Any ideas on bullet weights, velocities, ect what's its claim to fame

I read a article in a rifle magazine they called it a 6mm -204 so would be the same.
Super accurate but not great speeds.
Not sure what grain of bullet they used and a twist rate thow.
I'll see if I can find it,think they called it a texas trophy 6mm -204.

awesome little cartridge. have one on an old school 40x and just built one on a 788. both run ragged holes with ease. downside is brass, if you can't find any rem 222mag brass you can go the 204 route. haven't had to try it, but should work fine.
i run 68 bergers at 3150 with great results, had some 55 btips going 3300 for forming.

I had one in a custom job. Was a nice toy to play with but I always go back to a 222, 223, or 204.

We've sold a fair number in M21 coopers. We keep 222 Rem Mag brass here for that reason.

I have zero experience with a 6x47. What will it do that a 6-284 wont do better?

Work through a 223 action length and be easy on your hearing and your barrel.

your comparing a 50+/- case vs. 28+/- grain case. as p. river mentioned, low recoil, relatively quiet, 5 k + barrel life expectancy; whats not to like!

I bought one this winter, a used cooper classic, m21 single shot, sharp price,
Rainer shine, and prophet river, had brass, and rifle came with 150,
Haven't done a lot of work with it, but shoots 60 serrier HP and 75g very well, must check speeds, some time,
also getting very nice groups with 65g bergers and v-max,
The twist on mine is one in 14, so properly maxed out at about 80g, but that's fine, its a small game and coyote rifle.

It can be a spectacularly accurate cartridge . The down side for varminting ,particularly gophers , is the it does not have the destructive effect as the 223 222 etc . I have switch back from a 6ppc which is the ballistic twin of the 6x47 to the 17 R.E.M. And 223 . Not that is a major problem but not the visual effect of the others . There are not many varmint calibers that I have not tried or velocities I have tried

done some more load development and testing this evening. pleasantly surprised to hit 3290 fps on my labradar with 75 gr vmax.
settled at 3130 with consistent 5/8" groups for fire forming.
68 bergers are running a ragged hole at almost identical velocity.
can't wait for rodeo and hunter br to get going.
i didn't chrony the 55 btips i used for forming my first batch of brass, but every bit as explosive and red mist producing destruction on gophers as my duces with 50 gr tnt's.
