Default Moving to Slave Lake

Hi
I may be moving to Slave lake from BC for work. I was just wondering how is the fishing when the lake is not frozen. Any particular equipment needed . I a have a small trout rod and and spinning reel as well as a 11 ft steelhead rod and centre pin reel. Pretty sure the steelhead rod and reel would not be a good fit. How are the rivers there.

Thanks for any responses

Welcome to the forum and slave lake. Summer fishing on slave is incredible, not so much for size anymore, but quantity is there. I don't fish the rivers much but there is good fishing on them and sawridge creeks within a short distance from slave holds grayling.

Like Mike said, a spin rod and reel combo is all you'll need

The steelhead rod will work great for pike.

The fishing is awesome, the river is just as good as the lake.
There are a other lakes a hour's drive from here as well.
