Default Swan lake icefishing

I am going to head out to swan lake (west of Caroline) on Sunday with another member and am wondering if anyone has been there yet this year? I have never tried ice fishing this lake before, do they leave the gates open year round?

Any information is appreciated, thanks.

It's a scary lake! Humbling to even the best fisherpeople.

When i used to go the gates were open all Winter. We would go on at the boat launch and to the left. We would fish the close side of the bay. There have been some nice fish taken on the other side of the lake as well. I don't know what the ice conditions are so , you pays your money and takes your chances. We also found the Green Foxy Jig worked well. It is a tough lake as wags said though. I read it took roughly 70 man hours per fish caught.
