Default Cat creek. Is it worth it?

I'm the type of guy that enjoys catching a 5" fish just as much as a 15" fish so just keep that in mind before you tell me nothing but small fish don't bother. Does cat creek have any fish? What species and is there a decent number of there are. I'd like to hike to the falls this summer and fish my way there. Just wondering if anyone has ever done that.

Thumbs up Cat creek

I have not been down there since before the flood but in years past it held plenty of small fish just like the rest of the tribs to the Highwood. I have fished a number of tribs in the last two years and although most have seen spectacular change from the flood the fish are still there and I think the best is to come in the next few years. Remember on a small creek a 10" fish is a trophy on a 2 or 3 wt

Here is a video and some pics. I love fishing it.

I am happy to put together a map with access and some information to get you started if you like.

Default Cat or Catarack

Did you mean by Cat Creek or Cataract Creek.

I Fish Cataract Creek Every year and it is a either a "very good day" or a "0 fish day" for me yet. I found it fish the best in the early August for the lower section. However to Cross that Highwood river can be challenging earlier in the season. Almost got wiped away 3 years ago in July. Some big Bulls live in this section. Super nice scenery!

Cat creek is a very small creek alone Highway 40 right after Highwood Junction if you're coming from Long View. I fished Cat creek alone the trail and some hike upstream and down stream of each access point I found in 2014. The fishing were not great. managed to land a few small brooks and a couple cuts, in 4" range. Yes they are this small, for me at least, some nice sets of small falls with pools, but most of the section are 3 feet wide water. But again, very nice scenery, Nice hiking trail with a reward of beautiful water fall at the end of the trail.

I am very positive of it was not Cat Creek off FTR from the video...
It does sorta kinda looked like the upper Cataract Creek by the campground tho.
