I will also try for the tag but i only have a bow so i would need to find someone with a rifle that could join me for the hunt.
dont try and pull a tag for meat that you may not need

Default Hmmm...

I read it as 125 licenses with two tags per license.
Total of 250 antlerless elk
No hunting partner but only one helper allowed.
Is this how you guys read it?

I think this is a completely separate "management" draw.

It says no priority associated with this hunt. Meaning you won't gain or lose priority !!!

Yes but that doesn't mean it would effect my general elk. Normally your allowed one elk. So when you draw for an elk, your no longer allowed to purchase your general.

The last "special" base hunt to cull cows....you know the first come first serve one that crashed the Internet....did not effect any priority and I am 99.9% sure this is the same.

I was on November base hunt. I vehicle per tag with no limit on helpers.
This new hunt only says no (PARTNER TAG) and only two people can apply together. Nothing about amount of helpers.

Maybe I'm missing something or you guys aren't understanding. I realize it doesn't effect priority. I'm not disputing that, I am wondering if it'll effect the fact your only allowed either your special license or general license. So is this considered a bonus or a 2015 draw deeming me invalid for the general in 2015.

Strange they would set something like this up the way it has been proposed to the public with the 2 tag system.

Has anyone been informed as to the cost associated with these hunts ? The nominal licence fee of $ 9.00 wouldn't cover much.. To my understanding this hunt requires mandatory head submission for CWD testing which is performed outside the bounds of ESRD. The cost for each test subject is $ 200.00 or better from what I understand. Where is the money coming from to support these hunts at CFB ? Going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars spent per year to support the removal of just a 1000 elk.

Makes no sense...

No...you don't understand Read what I posted, I am not talking about a regular draw where you build priority...in fact I never even mentioned it.

It is a "special SPECIAL draw" and a management hunt....

Puzzler to me, would have thought they'd want to spread the opportunity around.

Well, I can't use 2 elk so when I am drawn, I guess one elk will be set free.

Have to agree. Having trouble figuring out exactly what 2nd hunter really means.
And as far as a "helper", what does that mean exactly? Don't see anything about a "helper" in the rules.

Sarcasm aside, since the inception of this opportunity, there has to have been over a million spent at CFB. Troubles me that this amount of money is focussed on one issue in Alberta. I have read countless threads about the need for more enforcement officers, better arial counts, and the list goes on and on... A million could achieve many of these desires. Are we more focussed on the opportunity than the future good for all wildlife in Alberta....

Wonder if they would include some farmland bordering the base in the area for this hunt ?
A stamped of hunters on the base would likely push the elk off the base where the problem already exists.

125 is the max number they want to manage on the base at one time. imo

New seasons for 2015 are proposed. There is a thread on it. Includes a bull hunt on the base.

Just read rules again and am more confused. It states:
"group size for liscence application is limited to two hunters". I read this as you would "share " the 2 tags and not be issued 4. And if two of you are hunting together, what do you call your fellow hunter other then your "partner"?
