Default ***2015 Shed Thread***

Found my first fresh bone of the season today Saturday December 13th which is officially the earliest I have ever found an antler. I just about drove over the dang thing. Looks like he jarred it loose jumping the grader bank.

Good luck to all you other shed hunters this season and please post them as you find them!

I would like to try this shed hunting stuff this year. Any tips on where to look, especially in poplar wooded areas?

Sweet! I almost enjoy shed hunting more than actually hunting! All local bucks here on camera are still packing horns. I found a matched set on Xmas Eve a few years ago ( my earliest)! I'm going to check more cameras and will report back soon! Now is the time to be finding feeding areas to be scoured later for sheds!!

^^^ typically there will be trails that the deer constantly use during the winter months to and from bedding areas.. also along fence lines they have a tendency to fall off when they hopp over ..

Great, there's road hunters and before you know there's gonna be shed road hunters.
Just kidding. I can see how it can get pretty addicting looking for sheds.

Just watched 2 four pointers walk past the house tonight at sunset, about the 150 class and one guy had dropped his left antler already. D.H.

Its hard to believe in that much time you have not found some. I usually find 20-30 without much effort. Some years three times that. Search where the deer spend most of their time.

Find a well used game trail and walk. If it's a real good game trail, and you know the bucks are using it, walk it a few times.

Were you seeing that one on the hoof this fall, Bob?

Keep the wolves off his backside and he could turn out to be a good one!

If your in open country spend some time glassing from the road. We spend hours behind the glass before we even set foot in an area to look for sheds. If its thick cover then get in bush for a short walk. If you see trails and droppings then walk the trails. Eventually they will lead to beds and feeding areas and those are where we find most our sheds.

Its the Internet. It was sent to me by someone. Its a great shed. I know Exactly where it was and where the deer is but to be quite Honest I don't care lol as I hunt my deer around home. Good luck with finding the other side. Maybe next year you could post a pic of your hands around it in hunting season. Good luck. Once again its just a shed

He was a no-show during the season. I'll do what I can about the wolves.
