Agree the administrators were out to lunch. Obviously never enter a classroom. But putting up something like that isn't just a mistake. It reveals a lack of judgement and maturity so glaring as to call into question the teacher's fitness for the profession.

Not surprising kids rally behind him/her. Most kids like their teacher, and one who let's their kids have access to things like that would be adored and thought of as "cool". Luckily they don't get the final say.

As somebody said earlier he was probably more of a buddy than a teacher.

That wasn't quite where I was going with my comment.

But there are teachers who try to "relate" to their students by being "cool and edgy" or that get too involved in their personal lives. They are the "buddies" when they need to be the teacher and make sure that the lines aren't blurred. Younger and newer teachers are more susceptible to this -- particularly in upper grades. A few of them think more of the regard the students will have for them than whether their actions are appropriate and then subsequently do stupid ****.

I posted this on another hunting board in Ontario, but it was taken down. I think it's funny how we think differently from province to province. They general drift was that although the ontario posters did agree it was wrong to post the material, the teacher should not be disciplined and it was no big deal. It was taken down due to the abusive name calling. I don't think the moderators liked the subject either.
