Hi all,
I am going to hit the banff area and was thinking of trying two jack lake. Any tips? I will have my inflatable and trolling motor. Any other tiny lakes in the area you'd suggest?
Thanks!

thanks! I didn't know there weren't trolling motors allowed. That's really rare when they are electric. Have to use good old muscle power.
Cheers

I've found that using Lucky Strike Halfwave spoons work the best for me. Also using tube jigs and jigging near the dam apparently pays off for some, it hasn't for me though haha
Good luck!

Ditto on the getting out in the middle of the lake. The shoreline is quite shallow and I have never seen anything there. All the recommended lures should work for you. Good luck!

fished it a few years back from a dinghy. Pink powebait on a single hook, u will not get 100 yards from shore before u catch 20.Hopefully there is still a rope swing there on the east side not to far from the beach. I highly recommend it, will remind u of your youth! Super fun! When I was there we caught tons of RBtrout and thouroughly enjoyed the tree swing

I will also add it is a great place to spend the day with the kiddies. Lotsa picnic tables and pits for lunch, and a well maintained beach from what I recall, no camping though but plenty of Cgrounds around. If u arrive early, there should be about 20 fish minimal jumping at all times, it's as if the water is hurting them....I think they may want out?

As noted, yes electric tolling motors are allowed. Big Trout equals slow trolling a Medium Williams wobbler spoon (remove the hooks and add a swivel) and attach a 24"-36" leader with a spin and glo (or walleye magic) with a unscented rubber worm (as there is no bait as aforementioned).
Sometimes this works very well. Costs you $10 to try and often when spoons are not enough - you will be only guy out there landing them!!!!

don't need anything fancy at this lake. pretty sure bait is allowed but correct me if I am wrong. Drop your PB down and it will be fish after fish. Them rainbows that only get up to 14inch in that lake, like said earlier, should be irresistable to ur bait. I hope bait is allowed, otherwise I was a poacher...oops? Glad we put em all back. to small to eat. No big trout there.

Yup you were poaching!! From the Parks Canada regs:
When angling, it is unlawful to:
Fish without a national park fishing permit.
Fish with or possess within 100 metres of park waters the following:
natural bait and chemical attractants;
any lead tackle (sinkers, jigs, lures and flies) under 50 grams;
lures with more than 2 gang hooks;
a line capable of catching more than one fish at one time.
Powerbait is considered a "chemical attractant"!!

Not to beat myself into the ground which I may have already done but why is it that bait is not allowed in National parks? Anyone know?
