Default skunked at dickson dam and dickson trout pond

Well, I came home empty handed today after a few hours below the dickson dam, and out at the trout pond..... Anyone having better luck than me? What are you using?

I was at the dam briefly yesterday and caught a 55cm jack in that deep hole west of the spillway. I was using a deep diving shad rap in a perch pattern. Slow twitching retrieve along the rocks. Was talking to a guy there who uses blue/white buzz bombs for catching browns.

I'll try to go to the deep hole by the spillway. I was fishing about as far west as possible by the secondary water inlet. Thanks for the suggestions!

Walk down stream from the boat launch and there is a decent hole. It's about 15 minutes walking.

I remember that pond being pretty big. Is it fishable from the shore, or is it better with a boat of somekind.

It is fishable from shore. Plenty of access to most of the pond. You can access the north side of the pond if you keep right at the Y in the road before entering but you have to park at the top of the hill and walk a little ways down.

the weeds are quite bad already so can be tough going from the shore in spots. I gave up on spinners and used bait under a float

Default dickson

me and a buddy fished dickson pond last weekend and probably caught 40 or 50 in 4 hrs pink and white powerbait on a pickeral rig. i recomend changing the hooks to very small ones as the fish are pretty small tight lines

I hit up the spillway today as well, my buddy caught a whitefish on his second cast but that was it all day... we were there for over three hours.

Default Dickson Dam

I have fished D.D. for many years at this time of the year. The water normally is high and flows fast and I get a lot of browns and very decent sizes. I have never seen it this slow and no fish to speak of. The browns are so good that I don't even bother trying for walleye until the middle of July.
Let's hope for more run off.
