Default NSR fly-fishing?

Would it be worth offering a few flies into the NSR in Edmonton? I have the choice of spinning or fly casting. Being summer still, is there much chance of taking any species on the dry?

Goldeye are possible on the fly, as are Walleye and Pike.

That being said, fly fishing will be most productive in the fall when the river drops and clears.

I may spin for pike and wait until the fall.

I've been doing well using a yellow and orange stimulator.

I've been seeing quite a few goldeye jumping from 3-6:30 about 200-300 yds downstream on the south side of the Devon bridge

I've been doing pretty good the past couple weeks with hoppers and fat Alberts for goldeye.I don't think they're too fussy most of the time.

Goldeye will bite almost anything 24 hours a day. I was even catching them with an orange peel on a snelled hook drifted on the surface.

All over the place. Hasn't really made a difference where I've been fishing for them as long as I'm fishing the same type of water. Seems like pretty much any current break that comes off of the shoreline and has a couple feet of depth to it will produce fish. Storm drains are always a good bet
