Default Coyotes prices.

Just saw an Alberta fur buyer telling people on Instagram, that he would be buying coyotes this winter, but only paying 5-10 bucks apiece. I’m glad I don’t have any snares hanging this year.

ya it's kind of sad and very discouraging..

I haven't even bought my trapping liscense yet.

I might trap some out of the farms I hunt, but I am guessing I will just sell them frozen for whatever I can get.

I have seen more coyotes around this fall then usual. Lots of ppl trap where I am, so I am guessing the pop will blow up in the next year or so.

Just for clarification, is he Paying $5-$10 for whole coyotes, would be shocked if thats his price for finished pelts.

I would assume so. I have talked to 2 buyers who have said the same. 5-10 bucks for prime dogs with good fur, no damage, no shoulder mites.

In an attempt to help out a local rancher I hung 10.snares this afternoon...coyotes got into his corral and ran calves until they stacked up and he lost a pair ..asked me to come out and set so I did a week earlier than I planned

Default Coyotes

The farmer that lost 2 calves to coyotes may have caused his own problems.
I see in the pictures old bones, if you teach coyotes to eat cattle that died. then what do you expect.

Coyotes don't need to be taught to eat carrion. They do that on their own right from birth

I would think pouring some diesel on the carcass and lighting may help prevent spread. Read once that dead mangy coyotes will attract dogs and can get infected…. Not sure about other coyotes finding the carcass.

Don’t see why another coyote wouldn’t eat a dead coyote. Especially in the winter.

Coyotes will definitely eat another dead coyote ,
I shot at one a few days ago, as he was eating on another Coyote
But sadly I missed, couple days later I didn’t miss on another one

Maybe ...maybe not ..I know it's common practice in many areas for ranchers to set out deads and let coyotes clean em up ,this being the only case I know of that dogs actually got into the corrals and wreaked havoc..the problem I see is this guy has these deads way too close to his operation and it attracts them in to come in contact thus setting off the chase.
Anyway ,there are 3 fewer contestants after the first set .

Yes coyotes eat carrion, but if you feed them in your yard, thats where they will come. They seldom chase cattle in a corral, most cattle hassled in your yard or corral will be domestic dogs.

Maybe now is the time to get the fur coat I've always wanted.
Seriously, why doesn't someone make a long fur coat with lots of pockets?
I'd hunt and ice fish in that.

Love the foliage for setting snares... my guess is Caraganna trees possibly in a shelter belt? I had huge success in a Caraganna plot many years ago.

Yes , about 20 yds from the house!! I told owner his dog would have to be locked up or I wouldn't set there. Weather has warmed up significantly and nothing in the snares yesterday but with cold returning on weekend I bet they return.
