Default Been offered a trap line in my back yard ?

I'm not a trapper but a friend is aging out and needs the money. Has not been trapped for years. Price is reasonable. Any thoughts ?
Thanks for the time.

nothing to lose. I certainly would jump at the opportunity. sounds more attractive that it hasnt been trapped in years. Assume the numbers are good because of it and Im sure the ungulates could use the help to reduce predators.
What area are you in Sarah?

Spend the winter with him trapping and see if its in your blood, then do it solo the year after and see if this is what you want to do .

Can you just get a trapline with no prior experience?

You have to take the trappers course from the ATA then you have to get three years experience on a line to qualify. That is the way it is here

If it hasn’t been trapped in years it’s probably in need of more than a little tlc but could be profitable fur wise. Don’t know Canadian rules on trapping so I can’t help there. I just set out a line whenever I want for the most part here in Montana. Stay on public land and follow the regs and I’m good.
