Stripes on the lower side usually indicate a finch.

It is a Harris's Sparrow. We only get them on migration here - somewhat rare.

I thought the Harris's Sparrow has a darker crown and throat?
This looks more like the Vesper Sparrow, especially with the white eye ring.

Yeah, it's a Harris's Sparrow.

Nice find, they are a species of interest meaning that ebird wants anyone who sees one to report it to them.
And it's classed as a species at risk due to a declining population.

Another intersting thing about them, they breed exclusively in Canada and are found only in North America.

I've seen about half a dozen in my life. Seeing one is a rare treat.

I think there was 3 or 4 of them when he first showed up a few days ago....but since have only seen this one. And took about 3 days to get a decent picture. He seems to be travelling with some juncos.

Hope he isn't with them if they get busted.

Nice!

They left here over a month ago.

Now all I'm getting at my feeders are a couple of Chickadees and a few Blue Jays.

It's too early for the winter birds and too late for the summer birds. LOL

A little light so far in the wifes feeders. Half a doz or more People friendly blue jays, a few chick a dees, a few downy's and the odd flicker popping in though many are flying around us. There has also been a whole flock of robins hanging througout the area too. Guessing they are getting ready for heading south.
