Default Going rate for a truck box full of firewood for sale

soooo , kinda bored sitting at hme waiting for the patch to pick up . Thought hey love chainsawing and physical work, plus get out of the house . Anyone know the going rate for firewood?? plus delivery ??

pickup truck box, would just be deadfall ,and or dead trees ,not cutting anything down .

and anyone know where i apply for that deadfall permit -think you technically need one etc etc

thanks ,

PS anyone want firewood around the red deer area ,lol - say only $100,000 bucks -thats split too

I think you only need a permit for standing tress, not dead fall. Permits used to be $5.00 for 4 cords.

Contact your local ESRD office. They write the permits and should be able to give you any information you need.

I think $80-$120 per box plus delivery ($30-$50) for dead fall is a fair price based on a quick kijiji search.

You can get firewood permits for standing dead or live trees or Christmas tree permits online for 7 dollars. For firewood, it’s 5 cubic feet of firewood a month if memory serves my right, so just over half a cord a month. But when you get your permit, it states it can’t be sold.

So better off getting permission for someone who needs some trees dropped or a bush quarter cleaned up.

Heads up that you can't sell anything harvested off of crown land with that permit. You need a commercial permit which is MUCH more work.

Much easier to find a close private quarter that wants some wood removed.

In my part of the world, I have seen firewood sell for as much as $200 per cord split and delivered. That would be for birch, a bit less for fir. $150 for pine. I’ve seen tamarack on Alberta Trading Post for over $200....

Picked up a half cord about 2 years ago from Blue grass nursery near Balzac. It was $80, and it filled about 3/4 of my 6 foot truck box. Was it worth it? By the time you factor in gas(truck/chainsaw), permit, and time spent out in the woods chainsawing etc.....I think it was worth it.

I have since bought a chainsaw and gather my own wood, and the benefits:
-Fresh air/scenery
-Sense of accomplishment
-Cut it to the size of your liking
-An excuse to get out when there is no more open water, and hunting season has ended

Birch around here goes for $400.00 or more a cord, pine and spruce is around $200.00 a cord depending on who sells it.

Pretty much the exact same reasons I cut my own firewood. Where I live firewood is worth as much as an elk in the freezer going into winter. Only difference is I can get up to 15 cords for less than 100$. Fuel and time is extra of course but I love it.

$200 for a cord of birch would be a steal. I'd take a couple myself as well.

Bought a cord last winter for $375 and that was a good deal.

Well, I’d love to help, but I think transport from Williams Lake, BC would be a bit prohibitive. Having said that, I do have an 18’ tandem flat which holds a schwack of wood, and I’ll be headed to Morinville for gophers in the spring......

Probably more work than it's worth. Considered it at one time, but by the time you factor in sourcing, time involved, transportation, and marketing, picking bottles sounds like a better option.

I know a guy selling firewood, a truck short box, is basically half a cord if it’s stacked nice. He’s selling split poplar for 120 bucks a half cord or it’s in a 4’x4’x4’ bag he hoists into his dump trailer then delivers it. Not sure what he charges for delivery, birch I think he was selling 240 for half a cord.
