Default RDR water level update

Can anyone let me know how the water levels are by three mile bend on the red deer river and if it is still clear and fishable?

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Not typical. Middle of June is when The RDR is usually high and dirty.

Its very low and clear.
Was fishing on the edge of the city last night, my 40 pound dog and i walked across the river.
Deepest part was up to my knees.
Was down by the river earlier today. No change.
Its usually significantly higher.

Hydro
You and your dog were able to walk across the river? I have never fished the RDR, but I assumed it was much deeper than that!!

There is very little snow pack this year so they are holding water back at Dickson Dam to be sure they can fill the Glennifer reservoir.

I have never seen the river this low in the spring.

Usually i would never risk crossing, especially with my dog.
Straight spots are shallow and clear. (where we crossed)
Bends in the river within city limits are deep in spots, i went swimming yesturday at the bend near maskepetoon park. Couldnt touch the bottom in a few spots, and i am a little over 6'.
Strangely low for this time of year.

It's super low
We floated on Sunday ...you can barely float it right now
Water temps are high and we did see dead fish in some places
Someone needs to turn on the taps and soon

Yup, totally forgot about the dead fish.
All of the ones I saw were walleye.

I was fly fishing with woolly buggers and San Juan worms today at Three Mile Bend and no luck. Water was fairly high from all the rain. There was a large mayfly hatch this afternoon and they were everywhere. Didn't see any fish rising though. Does anybody know the best place to fish in this area?

Default Rdr

try a little further downstream by riverbend golf course. Lots of people fishing out by Joffre Bridge. River levels are still low at approx 30cfs. Last week it was running at 20. Water is still clear though.

Ya usually when there's a nice hatch like that you'll have the whites rising to them water is too unclear right now

On the season opener on three mile bend there was a caddis hatch and the whites were taking my dry like crazy

You have posted so you are activated.

What you can't do is post in the buy and sell. You need 20 posts and at least 30 days to be able to post.

Good luck.
