Default The bow next week? June 18

Can any one tell what the river looks like now? I used to fish the bow quite regular but haven't fly fished in 3-4 years. I have a drift boat, and my dad is bringing my nephew who has gotten so involved in fly fishing over the last couple years, I need to take them down the river. I would likely float from policemans and to the dam. He is tying flies like crazy for this trip, I sent him a hatch chart to get a idea of what to load his box with.

Any tips for a has been looking to get a teen anger a few fish?

I am almost considering trying to get out on the river next week for a day before he gets here on the 17th toget some practice but to e is short for me.

This is the only timing that will work for the three of us this year, thanks.

Unless it rains a bunch, this looks like its on the peak plateau (google alberta river levels and access the charts). I think it'll start to drop that time, but still be high. I'm no pro, but if I were fishing it, I would Just go super heavy and big if nymphing or fish super close to shore with streamers. Backwaters/side channels may be a good bet.

Be extra careful if you haven't been on the bow since the flood, a lot has changed and if its high water/murky there are plenty of hidden dangers.

It is normal peak runoff time but watching it everyday as I commute it has started to turn blue again and by the way all the other rivers are going in Alberta I would say it's on the down hill of runoff so getting clearer by the day. That's just going by what I have been seeing. So another 5 days could be fish able. Not saying it will be great but don't get too discouraged. Hopefully my predictions are right

Some rain last night stirred things up a bit. Only about a foot of visibility below Calgary.

Went to policeman flats yesterday and caught 8 rainbows. Waters high and fast but it's still fishable. I was using spinning gear though using spinners and rapalas. Good luck

police to the dam is a huge float unless you are planning on doing it over night. The river has been fishing great on leech patterns and golden stone nymphs. Good luck.
