Default Customizing fly rod

My oldest son is graduating from high school at the end of the month and am going to get him a new fly rod. Any idea if it is possible to get a little message (i.e. congrats on your high school graduation) put on to the rod?

Are you looking for a custom rod to be built or just the message? If you want the rod custom built for your son, contact CDone (Colin) he does great work!!

Default Rod

You should be able to have your message written on, then clear coated over top.

Talk to the owner of Iron Bow fly shop. Not an in-house service, but they know someone who can help you (I forget his name).

Yes it is possible. Any rod builder should be able to do this for you. They use a fine, paint pen and then clear coat over it. The clear coat has to cure on a rod lathe (no sagging epoxy) so best handled by a local rod builder.

If you trust their penmanship, and ability to spell, I'm sure you could mail the rod section off to be done if you don't have someone local.

That's a very nice and thoughtful gift. Good idea. I could see doing that with rods or guns.
