Is it mercury? If so go here, if not still call him. Very reasonable and very good mechanic.

If they just need a tune, then totally call Colin. Only problem is he is quite busy usually, one man show. But you could take it apart, clean with carb cleaner, make sure carb is clean and plugs are new, fresh premium gas they might run fine if you just had them tuned a few years ago.

Hey mustang, thanks for providing that link. I have an older Johnson that I have had to get some work done on last year so hopefully she will go for another couple hundred hours but it's always nice to know where a guy can go if a problem jumps up! Maybe if enough of us go to this guy we can get you a "preferred customer" discount. Then you can return the favour by taking us to your honey holes lol.

No problem...you bring the boat and drive and I'll take you to a honey hole or two!

You never did say where you live. I have 73 - 9.5 which I have totally gone over and have it running like a top. I purchased an original OMC service manual off Ebay and between that and help from the Johnson/Evinrude forum members at Iboats.com I was able to do all the tune up stuff and even some repairs myself. PM me if you would like to discuss what your specific problems are. I'm no mechanic but I do enjoy working on outboards. Rick.

I've never even called this guy, and I found his number like 3-4 years ago maybe, but it sounds like he works out of his garage.
