Default Minimal decoy hunting

So I have finally learned that you do not need a huge spread to get the geese in. I was hunting a farmers field close to Westlock and set out 2 dozen Canada goose windsocks, 2 full body Canada geese and 2 "flying" geese on stakes.

I was actually pretty skeptical but even before finishing up, we had geese circling so I decided to just finish up quick and get into position. Started calling and within 5 minutes I had flocks coming in. Every group that was flying over, decided to check my blind out and were welcomed by shots.

So don't listen to people when they say you need huge spreads and expensive full body decoys. All you need is something to get their attention and a good caller.

Nice post. A good reminder.
I feel we can all over complicate all types of hunting sometimes

Smile The right place

If you are in the right place and they want to come in, they will. The decoys just help to T them up.

Good for you. The wind must have been blowing I take it. Nothing does as much for you as wind.

Yea exactly. I've noticed with snow geese it's a totally different story. I only have about 80 snow decoys and I'll set up where they've been sitting previous day's and then they never come to land. Just avoid me.
