I know... That’s some old school stuff. Lolololil

He and Mom were so fortunate to have us kids when they were young. Mom was 18 and Dad was 20.
He likes to say that the 4 of us grew up together. I am 59 this fall so he is turning 70.
Going through the old scrap books and seeing pictures and reading story’s is really a lot of fun.

Coming from a hockey family I figured you would be somewhat enlightened on the sport.

You cant find a longer serving Flames fan in this town than me.
Myself and 6,500 people are tied though.
My guess is that most of them are dead by now though.

Is that because your dad is 32 and the rest of our dads are 65 plus?

49 and my old man is 90, pretty sure he is beating up nobody.

Side question on this game day.. Who all seen the Flames play in the Coral when they got here from Atlanta?? My first game was against the Winnipeg Jets.

I watched them play Colorado in the Corral first year (Lanny was playing for the Rockies!!)....met them at the airport when they won the 1st round of the playoffs that year (?)...against (I wanna say) Chicago. Man that was a lifetime ago.

I'm going to be 52. My dad's clock stopped at 76 a few years back, so that's why he won't be winning any more fights.

Never got to a game at the Coral unfortunately, but watched plenty at the 'dome in '88-89-90 while I lived there. My cousin got us lots of games with the Company's season tickets where she worked. 4th row up, right in the corner, so you could see the look on anybody's face when Tim Hunter hit them. Also got to know Harvey the Hound pretty good.

Rig, the Corral was awesome. Pat Riggen (Team USA Hero) Reggie Lemelin who ended up being replaced by Mike Vernon, From the very first game until the last season. Dads company had 4 seats. Watching the Flames have to cross the concourse to get on the ice. Then the Dome opened.. I recall walking into the dome and thinking this was the biggest place I had ever been. They used to let you pour your own Nacho cheese sauce if you hit the concessions at the end of Dome. The whole Flames coming to Calgary thing was one of the biggest memories I have as a kid. Just perfect timing. A 9 turning 10 hockey mad kid who never dreamed of seeing a NHL game live and here they were. I still hadn't realized that I sucked and still held the dream of playing with them all. It was like being in Disney land. I think I almost passed out when the Flames skated onto the ice for the very first game. I didn't sleep for 3 days prior to the game. What a amazing experience that gift was.

My cousin played for the NY Islanders and got us tickets to see the Isles and Flames in the Coral... pretty amazing experience for a young lad like myself at the time.

HAHA that's awesome, funny you mention Reggie Lamelin, he always sticks out in my mind, a goalie of all things haha but always him. Another one I keep going back to is Willy Plett as well and I don't know why he sticks out in my mind.
I agree when I first stepped foot in the Dome I couldn't believe it was for hockey, so big. Same thing goes for now when I see the Corral I can't believe it was for the NHL..
One funny thing I remember was I didn't know much about all that NHL, and I bust have thought that since it was a Calgary team, everyone was from Calgary and my mind was blown when my Dad explained there were players from different parts of the world on the team.

Probably won't get to watch most of it, but looking forward to the game tonight. Nice to see, from an opposition standpoint, that Ferland is consistent in his inconsistency. He had 11 goals in October and November and 2 since 1 December. Caroline is definitely better with Niederreiter though, not sure why Minnesota made that trade.

Flames win it 5-3. Bennett gets a goal, and crushes somebody like a bug. His mustache grows.

3M line good for a goal. The Purple Juice line gets a pair, and Gio gets the other.

Rittich makes some Big saves.

You heard it here first.
