Default South Ram Report

Saw the weather for Thursday so headed out to the South Ram. Great weather for sure! Wet waded for the day.

First fish on

A real tank!

Hopper hitter!

The sheep had no fear and were drinking from the river only 50 feet from me.

Saw so many quaders and campers coming in as I was heading out. Going to be a busy long weekend...

Cheers!

Bad advice that is dangerous. Its not an easy route. If you go north on the FTR about 5 min past the campground there is a road on the right that runs parallel with the south ram river above the falls this road will take you back a long way to the staging area at the junction of hummingbird, ram and onion creek. All have fish and you dont have to try and get in that canyon below the falls

Not sure but if he is asking about access he definitely isnt ready for that. That is the way to get down but there is safer easier access to the south ram above the falls and just as good fishing

Nice pics, hope to head there this fall. What kind of bugs were you seeing. What were they biting on if you don't mind me asking.

Agreed that at the actual falls is a bit too much. Still, I would encourage anyone who hasn't to go and see the falls as the view is worth it. Then you can see the hill down for yourselves...

I admit that I placed the skull by the backbone for a better pic
Don't even know if I did it anotomically (sp?) correct ...lol

I found the ole trusty mosquito pattern worked at shoulder times and a big black hopper during mid day. Lots of hoppers about....

Mostly anything that floats works on the ram. Red ant or a royal woulff have been my go to dries there for years. A golden stone nymph or a #12 phesant tail are deadly in the deep pools

We spent Saturday below falls did quite well on anything with a green body that was small. then sunday we went above falls and couldnt keep them off but we had to switch flies constantly one fly wouldnt work for more then few pools. We had quite a few 18s lots of 17s and 1 19 that was fat. very fun trip for my first time to the ram

I fished tapestry falls this weekend.

What a hike!

Amazing fishing and even better scenery.

Table rock falls are next trip.
