Default Ice Fishing For Rainbow Trout

Just wondering what everyone is using to catch rainbow trout thru the ice.

I have had good luck with small Marmish lures, wire worms, both baited with maggets, I have also use small bead head prince nymph flies jigged right on the bottom. Good luck.

i had lots of succes with small jig heads baited with shrimp. i just buy the cheap cocktail shrim rings from the grocery store. put small pieces on the jig not to big.

always outfished everyone else around us

Shrimp is a great bait no doubt but there are also days they won't touch it with a 10 foot pole yet will bite other baits. Make sure you have a couple of different options (maggots, dew worms, shrimp) so that you can adapt when you have to.

Try powerbait in orange, pink and green. Tip a small jig head with the powerbait. Use light line for the trout. Good luck!
