Default trigger pull weight?

What do you guys set your triggers at? I set mine to 2 pounds and it has really shunk my groups. But this rifle will be used for hunting also. My question is, should it be set higher than 2 #s? Ive tried to get it to dry fire jumping around, safety on and off, slaming bolt closed ect and it does not go off until pulled. thanks for info.

For hunting, 3# is a good safe level and I have a few set at 3.5#. For my target shooters only, I go 1.5#. Be safe....under 2.75# for a hunting rig can be scary, especially in November with gloves on.

Default Hunting?

There is hunting and then there is hunting. The above posts are good advise on trigger pull for a walking gun when your hunting. Two reasons that I like a 3 lb plus on a walking gun is first for safety and second when you put fur in front of most people 10 lb pull would not matter.
I say walking gun and not just hunting rifle because I have a rifle that I use for long range hunting. This hunting is done by getting set up on the edge of field before sun up and waiting for deer to walk out. I shoot it from a bench we set up and I never chamber a round until I am ready to shoot. This trigger is set at 1lb.
This is kind of like most questions,it can be answered in one of two ways, one "it depends" and two " I will get back to you.
So I guess it depends.

Jaybull, if your comfortable with the trigger weight on your hunting rifle, run with it. I hunt coyotes all winter long with varmint guns with trigger weights under 1lb, my guns don't go off until I pull the trigger, gloves are always on when its -30. My biggame rifles are all set for 3-1/2 lbs but they are all factory triggers. If I stuck an aftermarket in them I would adjust them all to 1-1/2lb. Its nice to have the gun go off when you want it too rather than squeezing & wondering when its going to go.

I agree with EagleEye. Anything below 3 lbs is too light for a hunting rifle. I like the Accutrigger and feel comfortable with it, some don't like it. But it does provide for a light hunting trigger with the added safety factor.

It does.My trigger pull gauge is calibrated in ounces, not pounds,so I posted in ounces.

Do you walk with that coyote rifle loaded as well? I ask because a rifle with a 1# trigger is scary. I just hope you never slip or take a fall in the snow....you might get an unwelcome surprise. And for the record, I have never had a situation where I was waiting for a trigger to release when I was hunting. The opposite is usually true when fur in in the scope. That is why most smiths suggest 3#-3.5# trigger weight for hunting rigs. Excitement and cold fingers &/or gloves usually don't mix well with a light pull weight.

I'm not real familiar with these particular triggers but before I gave money to a gunsmith to work on it, I'd sink the cash into a Timney or Jewel.

Only cost $35...a new trigger is a heck of a lot more than that. Plus, no factory rifle warranty if you toss the trigger. Not that you'd ever need a warranty when a Remington is involved.

Yup...another smart move by the Libs...only cost us a kajillion dollars to change to Metric, while the rest of the world was going Imperial......... Oh well with inflation should only cost 2 kajillion to go back...I work with the crap everyday and it's ridiculous.....you guys and gals can explain a Gigajoule on your gas bill???????
