Default Barnes Brass

I've always used winchester brass for reloading & just recently tried some Barnes factory 180 Gr. TTSX to see how they preformed in my Remington 700 300 Win mag . I still have ample Winchester brass on hand but I was wondering has anyone tried Barnes brass for loading .

I use it for my 300wsm. It seems good IMO. It's made in the remington factory for barnes.

As I understand it, when Barnes got separated in the Remington sale and taken over by Sierra, they've gone to Hornady brass. Some people said they'd seen the Hornady boxes on the factory floor recently. ????

I just bought a Barnes factory ammo for my 6.5 PRC at Cabelas for $99.99, regular price was $127. I was curious as to why it’s around $30 more expensive than the other Barnes ammo so I opened the box and saw LAPUA in the head stamp. Head stamp for the other Barnes ammo says, BARNES.

And I have seen Nosler 280AI brass headstamped Lapua. Some manufacturers shop around to buy brass, and they even use different manufacturers for different cartridges

Barnes uses different manufactures for brass, I have Barnes factory ammo in my cabinet now for 223 with IVI brass, 300 RUM stamped Barnes and 270 with Winchester brass, no pattern as far as a brass supplier is concerned.

Pre Cerberus they used a mix of whatever they wanted

During Cerberus it was Remington brass except the cartridges Remington didn’t make. Anything stamped Barnes is Remington, and most of their load data lists Remington brass

Now it’s apparently a mix again. Probably whatever they can find.
