Default Importance of Yearly Eye Exams

My step daughter a single mom went for a routine eye exam last Wednesday.
They saw something they did not like and sent her to the Rockyview Eye Clinic-MRI last Thursday and now scheduled Monday morning for Brain Tumour Surgery at the Foothills.

We are circling the wagons to try and get her and our grandson through this.

Get those eyes checked-maybe save your life

Thanks for your good recommendation. Thankfully the problem has been diagnosed and she is getting quick treatment.
All the best for a speedy recovery.

Agreed! Thanks for bringing this up.

Have an business acquaintance who had a similar situation. I noticed a slight change in her personality over time, and then I didn't see her for a while. When she came back to work, she was back to her old self again.

Her story was the same - an eye exam revealed that one of her eyes was showing signs of distortion. The followup revealed a brain tumor that was then promptly removed.

Thanks all for the well wishes.
Heading over shortly to pick up my step daughter for a pre-surgery MRI at 5:30am. Then surgery scheduled for 7:30am and expect surgery to last 6 -10 hours. Highly vascular and deeply imbedded tumor.
Suspect a long day with a terrified grandson.

I hope everything goes smoothly, we'll be expecting photos of the celebration banquet that you'll be cooking up.

She survived surgery and they feel that the tumor was totally removed.
She did code about 7 hours in, but thankfully got her revived.
Will get a better sense of prognosis tomorrow, but today was a gift.
Grateful for the well wishes.

Grandson devoured some home made Turkey Keilbasa and Penne for supper tonight after talking to his mom he had quite the appetite.

Stress eating I guess.

The most appreciative I have ever felt was towards medical staff who were helping my wife or son. Those people accomplish amazing things and I applaud them for the work they do. I'm glad to hear she's on the mend.

Good to hear the surgery went well and I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks for sharing. I've never heard of this and have not had an eye exam in 20 years. I will be booking an appointment soon.

Diagnosed 2 weeks ago today after a routine eye exam,
Surgery on the 15th. Heart stopped on the table. Revived,
Incision the size of a side plate, 52 staples over the skull plate held back together with plates and screws.

Yesterday morning still on catheter and main line. Those removed at 4pm-Cleared and released her to come home at 5pm.

Pathology report received at 3pm identified as a Grade 1 Benign Meningioma.

Follow up in 10 days will tell us if further treatment is required.
But amazing news and proud of what a warrior she is.

Home after 3 days, Crazy

We are moved in to her house as 24 hour support and caregivers to her and our grandson until further notice.

What a ride

I know it's still going to be difficult, but this is such good news. I am so relieved for you and your family that my eyes are leaking.
