Default Canyon Creek. Slave Lake Ice Report. Pictures

Just got back from Canyon Creek on Lesser Slave Lake.
What a crazy windy day!
Ice looks pretty scary and incredible at the same time.

It looks dangerous, but it is pretty thick, almost 11''

We were trying to find 20-25 FOW but on our way to the deepness got stopped by a major crack, which had separated us from our goal and left us at 15-17 FOW only

Look at this Shark fin!

Just look at those figures and structures the nature created for us, using frost and wind... This, indeed is pure magic!

Don't tell me it doesn't look like real waves!

We spent couple of hours seeking a deeper spot walking along that crack, but with no luck, everywhere we went we ended up seeing 15-17 FOW. Gave up than and tried to fish that area, super slow, almost dead... Didn't land any fish, just had 3 hits on tip ups. Anyway, was a wicked day, being on the great lake just by ourselfs, seeing that magical ice.

If you go there, be extra careful, ice is still shifting in some spots. Not gonna be ready for driving for awhile.

Cheers!

P.S. Later will post a little video showing more beauty of that place. Stay tuned.
