Default Winter trailer living

Anyone here have experience with living in a 4 season trailer.
My son got a mechanic position with the mine at cadimon he was going to stay in his trailer at the year round camp ground. What tips and tricks would help him out

Make sure he has several electric heaters spread out in the unit if he is using their power, propane as backup. Skirt it and make sure the plumbing is well insulated, heated if necessary. I would have about 4 heaters at least.

As mentioned heat and skirting. Be wary of fire hazards as well. Those things go up like a match box!

As stated you need to use the propane heat as it keeps the holding tanks and floors warm and keeps the air moving also keep the vents open gets the moisture out . Skirting is very important and put steel wool in any gaps or holes to keep the mice out. When it gets -15 or lower not to many trailers will hold heat enough to stop the freezing . OH double pained windows and a 50 amp service is needed

He will definitely want to look into bigger propane tank. Not sure on the specific area but some places will drop off a propane pig then come and fill it when needed. Also recommend keeping his 2 30lb propane tanks filled and ready to go in case they can’t get out to fill the pig up when it is near empty.

IMO, humidity is a killer on RV's. Even though it is cold, dry air needs to circulate though the trailer.

I had a coworker do it for a year. His was skirted and supposed to be a 4 season trailer. When it got below -20 he was in a constant battle to avoid freezing it all off. He would come into work with big bags under his eyes and super tired because he never slept when it got cold. I wouldn't do it myself.

I’ve thought about it lots but now that I’m older, the thought of having to possibly deal with freeze ups, heat issues, and whatnot in the dark, at -43 degrees, turns me right off. Not even gonna attempt it now.

Light bulb in the rear of the fridge and a piece of cardboard with a 6 in hole cut in it gets place in the fridge vent. Fridges run on heat and you will wreck them if its too cold, pout a little plumbers antifreeze down the black and grey tanks before you close the valve after the tanks are empty so the valves dont freeze shut after you close them

Several municipalities do not allow portable electric heaters in holiday trailers
and fire dept inspections do happen in campgrounds

Had 2 electric heaters in mine one winter, only problem is they kept popping the breaker. Have to up that. Also get one of the baskets that trap moisture they are cheap and you can find them at Wallmart. Carbon Monoxide detector is a must.
