An awful lot of big game was killed with the .30-06 including the big bears before everyone became affluent enough to own a rifle for every species of game they might hunt.

Depends on how you look at it, not good, but Botswana has a healthy population of 130, 000. In spite of what activists would have you believe, there are elephant populations doing well, kind of like polar bears.

Nope!!!! Our Sparkle Socks Turdope hasn't sent enough money there.
Never good to see so many of one species die in a short period of time.

The video at the start of the article with two elephants saving the baby was pretty amazing. Female instincts kicked in with baby in danger
