Default Finally found a Hog (No pics as I was alone)

It took a number of years and the purchase of a small boat last fall but I've finally landed a large Pike.
45"
22lbs.
Personal best!
It felt great!
I wish I had a go pro. When she came up from the depth (under the boat) and saw the boat....just launched herself like a sail fish and took the line running. So much fun!
Girth......girth you say! She was COVID fat!!
Hopefully the next trip will be less windy and easier to get pics.

Prior to this, I helped my daughter bring in a 42" ice fishing.

Sounds like an adrenaline rush for sure. Like a young adult Muskie ha ha Good catch though. You do have a pic and it's burned in your brain. We just have to find a way to develop it.

I knew it when I posted it. I have a couple of rough vids that I managed to take. I’ll get around to uploading them one day.

I take most of my pictures solo it's very easy get a couple pieces of Velcro I have one stuck the back of my phone and I carry a piece with me when I'm hunting and stick it on a tree or a backpack or anyting

I’d be more concerned with getting it back in the water healthy than snapping a bunch of pictures. It’s in your memory, that’s all that matters. By the way...nice pike!

Congrats on the pike, and don't ever regret not having the camera. Its good to have some stellar memories just for yourself, that experience for you was pure gold. Trying to convey what it meant to you, via a picture, to others IMO often can almost cheapen the experience a little. So just keep that one for yourself, and re-visit it the next time you're in the dentist chair or your boss tells you to stay late right at quitting time on a Friday

Personally, I don't even bother with the camera any more unless the kids are along. I've got enough pictures of big fish, and somehow most of them never manage to look as big in the picture as they did when I caught them, at this point I'm fine with the memories.

X2
My six biggest pike were all caught the same evening, on the Snare River in NWT 22 years ago. Largest being 28lbs. No idea how long it was. All I had was a disposable Kodak. Did the best I could getting trying to take pictures solo but it was an effort in futility. It was the most unbelievable pike action I’ve enjoyed and will never forget it. Pictures are nice but the experience is what counts.

Sounds like a hog indeed OP. Congrats.
