Default Sooo I went trolling for Chinook and got a free whale watching show.

These creatures are just so majestic. It does qet a little scary not knowing where they will surface but let me tell you its pretty cool seeing it happen. These guys are humpback whales. Maybe i'll see orcas sometime as well.

very cool to see first hand for sure, usually bait fish on the surface and an abundance of birds would get the bite on.....start chucking buzz bombs....

Beauty day HuyFishin! That’s a nice little rig you have there. It’s nice getting right down at the waters level. Reminds me of all the time I spent in a Tyee row boat.

Thanks for posting.

I’ll give it a try next time! I don’t change my lure often enough since I’m lazy haha. I need more rods so I can pre rig all of them with different lures.

ya we use to paddle up on the birds in the canoe just off the powel river ferry docks and throw 3" buzz bombs usually getting a few chinook...pink/white and blue/white seemed to do the trick more often then not....keep the vids coming as I do miss the Island

I did it for 3 seasons. We registered 5 Tyee in the club in that time which was doing pretty good for a beginner on the oars. We also caught dozens of undersized in that time, some of which only missed the 30 pound mark by ounces. I was the rower for each of them so my name went down as the guide, not the person catching the Tyee. I haven’t registered one myself but it’s hard to register one when your not on the rod.
