Default Sled Mods

I have started to work on my sled a little on my night shifts.

Got a deck put on it and a place for some plastic boxs. Built 4 rod holders out of PVC. Some spots for straps and a cubby hole in the front. I want to put some kind of a rack on it as well but not sure what to use??? Any ideas??

Going to cut a few more spots for gear in the top like in the front. But cant figure out what to use for a rack. Angle iron I guess but that wont look very good.

could put some old x-country ski's on the bottom

or maybe 6' ice skates would be more appropriate this season

Tote. Yep two of them. And some old ski's for sure thats my next night shift job. Rack will be just tall enough to get the totes under it. Then can put new fatfish and chair ontop. Maybe a little flip down spot for the stove as well

my tote is my sled. I put a rope on it. not sure how much more mod'ing it could take

I wonder if you could make your sled transform into an automatic fisherman?

I have seen some guys over on IceShanty build some pretty sweet racks out of ABS pipe like you made the rod holders from. Planning on doing that myself when I get a sled.

What is the purpose of the rack? For the power auger???

Yep auger, tent, I take a full sized recliner lawn chair for naps while I fish. "love my naps". Want a spot to attach a small stove. Etc etc

Would not the pipe get cold and break once I put some weight of the gear on it.

Unless you're using really thin walled pipe, you're putting on a lot of weight onto the pipes and its really REALLY cold, I don't think they'll crack. Water pipes burst in the winter because water expands and puts a lot of pressure onto the pipe walls when it freezes. No real personal experience though, this is just conjecture on my part.

Neat mods though, I may need to steal your ideas for later. Thanks for sharing

Guess that makes sense. But next question is how to attach the thing to the sled. Guess I could build it and just drill some holes for it to slide into the deck on the sled, that way I could use it when I want or pull it off and just have the deck.... Hmmm.

If I were you I wouldn't use skis , go get a couple 3 inch wide strips of puck board and drill countersink your bolts , and use a little piece of plywood or something to anchor the bolt so it just doesn't pull threw the sled . Far better then skis , and will glide across the snow far better to . Put something in there to hold your electronics , perhaps a small cooler or something to hold your bait so if they melt dont get the inside all tastey . Im sure I could dream up a million things a guy could do , hell you could put a couple O rings like ya did for the straps but for a second sled behind for your chair , auger , tent .

Default Mods.

Looks great, love the rod holders. Be carefull with the center of gravity, auger and tent on the top of the gear makes for a tippy episode!! I have the same sled. I think the rack may give you trouble, if you plan on pulling it behind sled/quad.
