Default Best beer for cooking

Hey everyone, this is a bit of a weird question. I hate drinking beer. But...I have been slow cooking venison roasts and steaks in beer lately and have really been enjoying it done that way. What kind of beer does everyone like to cook with for wild meat?

Personally, blonde beers for cooking.

I find dark beers (porters Guiness etc) add a flavour I don't enjoy.

I can bring myself to pour put a beer as an ingredient.
But I've often wondered, what if you used unfermented wort instead of finished beer?
I think the extra sweetness would be really good.
Has anyone tried that?

We're going to start cooking in an hour or so. And right now I'm drinking a Miller Genuine Draft.

I bake bread with a New Zealand Pale Ale which I brewed from a Kit. I am not a huge beer drinker so a batch lasts me forever. I just replace the wet ingredients with beer and it gives a beautiful aroma and flavour to the bread

You would miss the hops flavor that I think makes all the difference.

Alcohol has a very low evaporation point so it will disappear during the cooking process.

I do not always cook with beer, but when I do, I prefer to drink it. Stay thirsty my friends.

It does NOT disappear, at least not in any reasonable cooking time. I can’t remember exactly but you would have to cook something for about 20 hours, uncovered, to get most of the alcohol out of a wine sauce. I looked this up when wifey was preggo.

As far as cooking with beer, generally whatever you like to drink. Too much hops (IPAs) can create an overpowering bitter taste. I’ve done a bunch of wild game with lagers (molson and moosehead) and an excellent Guinness stew.

I 'm not a beer drinker either ,so its not hard for me to splash any beer on a few steaks before it hits the BBQ .

I've been using a box of Molson Canadian that my neighbour lady gave me as payment for helping her do stuff around her house.

I know she appreciates what I do for them, and am grateful for beer... but Canadian is the worst! Tastes fine in a dutch oven though.

Reminds me of using wine, half a cup for the recipe, the rest of the bottle for the cook.
