It is cool to see the workmanship involved from that time period. The rear sight would probably take at least a hour , probably 2 to make . Kudos to to the craftsman of the time . Look forward to shooting it. I have some 87 gr Speer hot corn to try. My next quest will be to find a peep sight for it

Cool find. They truly are lovely old rifles. Even by today's standards the 250-3000 is a great cartridge. It is actually a perfect option for new shooters wanting to shoot big game. Savage when they were a premium built firearm.
You know of course that you can't use those bullets on game. That would be considered baiting.
