Default Question about waterfowl

Some of the the threads here lately have me thinking, anyone here , who has hunted ducks and geese for more than a few years in this province. Have u noticed the birds don't hang around like they used to?, I realize the early winters push them out, but even so, they seem to stop for a day or two and carry on??

Nope. They hang on until they are absolutely frozen out. This year snow depth has moved more out than previously but in general more birds are staying north of the US border now than did ten years ago. The Yanks actually accuse us of "short stopping" the birds from completing their migration.

Well it was a different fall here this year, it seemed they moved down in smaller flocks and moved on after a week or so. I'm not sure how long they hung around in the south . Had some good shoots, seen a ton of mallards role thru this year.

This year was different like super7 said they came in small flocks and pushed trough within a week but that only lasted for roughly 3 weeks their was no trouble finding a field towards the end of October their was big numbers of birds everywhere around here same as the last 5 years not much has changed

Southern Alberta sucked this year for geese, at least where I went. I felt it stayed too warm up north and then when we did get the weather to push things south, it hit all of Alberta and most geese just kept going. We had quite a few around Medicine Hat but not as many as the last few years. When we had that huge storm in the first bit of November I was out feeding cows and the snow geese were flying over me like crazy heading south, there was a 70km wind and I couldn't see them in the snow, but you could hear big flocks over head every couple minutes.
