Default Crappy, yet still fun day @ Wab

I took three students out to introduce them to ice fishing. Well let me tell you we drove all over that lake! From one end the other and both sides, guys sure had fun but the fishing was brutal. We tried everything but to no avail. We did manage one 12lb pike near Fallis. Anyone else have much luck?

Yeah it's all about timing, location, and setup. You have to find a drop off or structure. And the average hot times are 9am-1pm and 4:30-7ish. As for setup, tip-ups work the best, the pike can be lazy at this time of year and a non-moving or slow presentation are best. So if you are jigging, jig slow.

If you spent the day driving all over the lake that's half your problem!

Any time I try a spot on that lake I'll give it a full day, and often a second day if nothing happens on the first day...sometimes it takes a while to get into them, but they will come around eventually.

If all else fails just fish straight off the dock in town. It's not very imaginative, but it produces.
