Default Hunting with SKS?

Hi, i was wondering, since the SKS is a larger calibre than .243 but does not have the power behind it, is it legal to use as a deer gun? My gf is small and still has trouble with a .243 but has no trouble with the SKS.

With appropriate ammo and used within its accuracy limitations, it will work just fine.

It's roughly equivalent to a 30-30 iirc. Plenty of stopping power when used within its limitations.

It was designed to kill humans so it will do just fine for deer hunting.

Just make sure she is accurate with it.

I had mine out yesterday and with cheap surplus standing offhand at 100yds was a little tough.

I was going to get a scope rail that goes the full length over the ejection port, and get a good quality scope! What range would you use an sks ar for deer?

The distance at which the gun (and you/her) can keep them in a 4"-6" circle.

Whatever distance you can hit a pie plate at, you're good.
