Default Trophy Ridge Vertical Pins

I have been shooting a cheap beginner Trophy ridge 3 pin horizontal sight for a couple months now. I am looking to upgrade and wondering if anyone has expierence to switching to vertical pins. Is it better or worst? I am finding alot of mixed reviews online. Thanks.

I have no expierence with the vertical pins but my wife is trying out a new sight this weekend that has vertical pins. Some of the people I have talked to swear by them while others hate them. But like I said no personal expierence with them my self.

I used vertical pins for hunting for many years and 3d my first year, I like them. Back then you couldn't get any smaller than 0.019 so for hunting there are good but target a little big. I like how the sight window isn't obstructed and they are one of the easiest sights to set up and sight in. Just make sure you use the correct Allen key to move the pins.

If you are left handed I have one for Sale.

Personally I dont get all the hype of vertical pins..

-Pins will remain the same spacing...
-Some say less obstructed target...

Well ...we dont aim at a whole deer or target...obstructed antlers may be a good thing...lol
We pick a spot and aim for the center of that spot...like on a target face target...we dont aim for the Gold ring....we aim at that X in the center of that Gold ring ...even thou we cant see it!!!

I will stick a pencil into the center of that X and tell shooters to aim at NOT that eraser of that pencil but for the center of that eraser...they cant see it but they know its there like the X

Doing so you see nothing but....vertical-horizontal sight picture should be the same....x of that X

lol

Preference....but I will tell you this, the vertical pins will show you torque or improper set up.

They are "stacked" front to back, meaning they are not all the same distance to your eye. If they are not perfectly square to your eye they will "cascade" left or right....pins that come in from the side that are all in line and same distance to the eye will not show you this.

True as will a peep and level on sight assist ...but I dont use them either...lol

The biggest asset with vertical...they will assist those with bad CANT as long as sights are truly level to bow... and assist form for sure...but in quick hunting situations...you just cant CANT!!!

lol

Canted or no cant....it will show you torque. I'll post pictures later to demonstrate.

Default Vertical Pins My Preference

While I agree with he .019" pins size, the sight window make it my preference. Have them on all my bows.

all personal preferences. I really don't think it matters that much at all. I like the torque concept, but I have the anchor sight for that, so I"ve never made the switch.

Isn't even factor when I"m buying a sight.
