My dunlops separated on the front between the toe and the sole after about 5 years.
They were comfortable and warm but heavier and more rigid.. don't think I'd want to put 15-20k hiking in them.
And I don't see the need for safety boots for hunting...and they are probably more expensive than most hunting boots.

so...boils down to what you plan to use them for.

Another thing I'd add is if you are going with a rubber/ neoprene boot just keep in mind that you have to dry them out daily and they don't dry out as nicely as a leather/goretex boot would. So if you're roughing it for a week or two at a time you might want to rethink the rubber boots.

You are correct that’s why I have three pairs.

If they don't dry out I would get rid of them because that means they probably leak.
Should only be wet from sweat so should dry fairly

Wallmart has some great rubber boots, with removable felt liners, for 39.00. Laugh if you want to, but I have had the same pair for 4 years now and they are still great. Countless trips to the NSR in mild -cold weather and plenty of ice fishing trips at -10 to -30. Never had cold feet wearing them.

The Bama's will soak up any moisture and maintain a relatively dry boot. On a wilderness hunt I take a couple pairs of Bama's and alternate between them. On a less remote hunt stuffing newspaper in the boot overnight will dry it out.

No, he's right, on an extended back country hunt the moisture in your boots can get pretty annoying. That's why I use Bama socks all season long, even when the insulation is not needed, by the end of a long day in Dunlops your feet are pretty damp. If night tempatures are low or the weather is damp the boots will still be damp in the morning. When you use Bama's they somehow absorb the moisture and keep everything else dry.

Yes, those are good ideas, or get leather goretex boots. I have both and use both on a regular basis.

It depends how wet the country is, I hunt along river bottoms and backwaters fairly often where even an 18" rubber boot can leave you hunting for a shallow spot to cross. When your in and out of a boat not having a proper rubber boot can complicate things as well. I have some nice leather boots, but they don't see a ton of use because practically every day I spend in the field I run into a situation where I am sure glad I wore rubber boots.

You can get Dunlop's without the safety toes. That's what I have and they are great. They'll run you about the same as muck Boots. I've had mine for about 12 years and put them through quite a bit of abuse. I am only now thinking of replacing them.

I've ran dunlops for years. Just picked up muck arctic pro, so much more comfortable.

I went into a warehouse in Red Deer of a guy that buys abandon storage units. He had a pair of Muck Woody Elite in my size for dirt cheap so I grabbed them.

I had been using these for around the yard and when launching the boat but today being so wet I decided to wear them pheasant hunting. I can't believe how comfortable these are to walk in and they are super light compared to wet boots and pant bottoms. I have put many miles on in rubber boots and was expecting the same but these are as comfortable as my Irish Setters. I walked at least a couple of miles and am nothing but impressed.

I would have never considered paying over $100 for rubber boots before these but if they hold up well I will be buying again. I feel a little guilty for talking the guy down so much on his reasonable asking price.

About 10 years ago I started buying Weather Spirits rubber boots at Walmart for approximately $35.00 when they go on sale. I Buy them at the beginning of each hunting season, use them for every type of hunt you an imagine, then wear them all winter on asphalt and sidewalks until the soles are worn out.

Here are the specs:

•Injection moulded waterproof rubber shell
•Treaded outsole design provides for good traction & slip resistance
•Polyester cuff with adjustable lacing
•Removable polyester liner
•Made in Canada
•Comfort rated to -40°C
•Sizes 4-13

Never wet , always warm, I recommend them to any one!

I agree dad and I have used them for years

Dunlops or Baffin, been running dunlops for 8 yrs now, put em on at the start of duck season, and they don't come off till the last day of coyote season. Then I wear them during calving season and in the summer on the wet days. Durable to beat all heck.

I like the new crappy tire Huntshield stuff. They go on sale often. Try a pair on they will surprise you.
