Default Vacmaster

Picked up a VP210 at Cedarlane for a 20% discount earlier this year and absolutely no regrets. My neighbour used it for his deer, we use it for home made bacon primarily. We've used it for leftovers, soup, and brines. Also works great for breaking up Costco packs of ground beef and whole chickens. I can go as large as 10x16. Bags are around 6 cents each, but the machine costs a bit and man is it heavy! It has a fixed spot in my basement, where I take my food to it!

Got sick of buying a new machine every two years plus a small fortune in bags.

Buy the bags on Amazon. Much cheaper and can get multiple sizes pre sealed on one end.

Word
My old Chamber Vac is amazing, and unlikely one guy could steal it without a dolly. It used to live in a butcher shop. LS Faceplate got broken during an attempted theft, but they left it behind as it was so darn heavy

Maintenance is oil changes. It has a Busch Pump.
3 removeable spacer plates and can do MAP
Can cryovac a 5 kg Turkey in 14" x 20" bags
Lives on it's own heavy steel stand with bag storage on the lower shelf.
Lives next to my butcher table in the basement

I use the foodsaver and it's ok. I'm not sure how big the sealer needs to be to vac seal a whole coyote .

What vac bags are the best?

The food saver ones aren’t bad, but a few do seem to lose their vac after a while or when I defrost.

My favourite are the Ronegye bags from amazon, double sided and i havent had any issues even when sealing liquids using the tissue near the top trick.

DNR Sausage Supplies sells rolls for the bag sucker types of vac sealers. Supposedly those rolls are made in Airdrie.

Better load up on all significant platics, and straws too, unless you dont car for your lip cells.

I went and got me the Cabelas Commercial 15" machine, cant say it suctions a whole lot better than the other machine or not, suctions ok.

BUT...

The double seal on the Cabelas Commercial machine is SUPERB!!! Love that aspect, makes the machine the machine to have!

I have this model of chamber vac,
https://www.amazon.com/VacMaster-VP2...D3HCAYPGPFSPMS

has a wet compressor where I can add oil if needed, has been working for over 6 years now, no hick ups at all, and uline.ca has bags for both chamber and suction vacs.

Thanks for all of the advice! My second Foodsaver machine was losing it's 'suck' after only a couple of years, so based on my needs, and consensus opinion here, I just bought the Cabela's Commercial 12" (on sale).

Thanks to wide range of people who generously provide their experiences into this forum - my salmon, halibut, deer, moose and sundry items should be well taken care of!

Hats off to you!
