Default My 6 year old daughter has taken an interest in fishing

We went out on both Saturday and Sunday for the free family fishing weekend. My 6 year old showed us a side of her I have never seen. She is usually pretty impatient but both times she stood there for about 90 minutes doing cast after cast and never got bored. Had to tell her it was time to go both days. We never caught anything. First day was at the boat launch at chain lakes (by Ponoka) and the next was at the Lacombe fish pond.

I am not much of a fisherman, did a little about 15 years ago but it has never peaked my interest.

Does anyone know a spot around Lacombe that has less weeds in the water and she might be able to catch something small? The weeds are making it pretty hard for her as she can't cast super far and she spent a lot of time pulling weeds off her lure. Can you fish in the Red Deer river with small spoons?

Feel free to P.M. me.
