Managed to get out this weekend to do some walleye fishing with some friends and hooked into a big surprise. We knew that there were big northerns in this lake but weren’t expecting them in 30 feet of water…. 4 pound mono and a short light rod made for lots of long runs and around 15 minutes of fighting. Finally got him onto the ice and measured 39 inches and 18 pounds…. Sure would have loved to break 40 for the first time in alberta but I can’t complain, more reason to target them as the month goes on! Just goes to show that respectable fish can still be caught within reasonable distance of major cities in alberta
