Default No white tail deer supplemental this year??

Heard there will be no White tail supplemental tags given this year in Alberta??
Instead they are awarding an extra Mule Doe
Tag.
Is that true?

Correction guys, looks like the Canadian Tire girl was misinformed when she told my buddy there were no supplemental tags this year. I just went on the app and was able to purchase my White tail supplementals!!!

A couple of years ago, a “Canadian Tire girl” was selling mule deer tags (along with whitetail tags) to young hunter with his mother informing them that he could shoot a mulie buck and doe, just like the whitetails in any surrounding areas. Both of those (mule deer) are draw tags in all surrounding WMU’s. When she was done explaining, I told the mother that they should read the regulations first because he cannot shoot any mule deer in these WMU’s unless he was drawn for it and they can get in a lot of trouble. The mother gave me a look as if I were an idiot.

Once, my buddy from Ontario came over for a hunt. I showed him the regulations (though he read them prior) and specifically outlined what he can and cannot hunt. He went to pick up the tags at Freson Bros and came back with a whitetail, bear, and a mule deer tag. I asked him why did he buy a mule deer tag because I specifically said that any of the WMU’s where he can hunt a mule deer are too far for me to travel to with him. He said that the lady at the store assured him that he can hunt a mule deer here because otherwise she wouldn’t be able to sell him a tag in that store. I laughed and showed him the regulations again and said thanks for your contribution, lol.

Never listen to a person selling you tags. They don’t know anything about hunting more often than not and definitely are not familiar with the regulations in any given season in any given WMU. Do your own work and read the book.

YUP ........... we are all better off doing some research and reading of our own - the "Canadian Tire Girl" and some "Armchair Experts" on here have certainly created confusion for those who choose not to take the self responsibility of reading and understanding the regulations themselves.

I don't think the "Canadian Tire Girl" or "A guy on the Forum" told me .... constitutes a strong legal defense.

Local coffee shop talk around here is some landowners not too happy with the amount of tags being handed out. If you've had permission previously I would contact them sooner rather than later to confirm... other than that Good Luck

This is great news. I didn't get drawn for my mulie buck this year. I didn't know I could just go to Canadian Tire and buy the tags. That cuts out the middle man!!

A few years ago the boss renewed her WIN card at Canadian Tire. A few months went by with no WIN card in the mail. It turns out the girl at Canadian Tire forgot to check the box saying we paid for the renewal. So they were waiting on us for payment before issuing the card.

Either the OP is illiterate, or what…..

The gasps moans and other reactions certainly say something is indeed fishy about this post.

I’ve been in the wrong before, but I’d wager I’m not to far off what’s being dragged in the water here.

Apparently not!

For those of you who don't know how to find the reg's online....and don't know you can pick up a synopsis at your local sporting goods store here's a quick copy/paste from the online regs:

WMUs where the Supplemental White-tailed Deer Licence is now valid has changed for the 2021 hunting season with numerous
additional WMUs. The Supplemental Antlerless White-tailed Deer Licence is issued with two tags. The FIRST tag issued with the licence (but NOT the second tag) is valid for tagging a deer hunted in one of the following WMUs: 346, 347, 349, 351, 354, 356-360, 521-523, 526, 527, 535 and 537. Both tags are valid for tagging a deer(s) hunted in any of the following WMUs: 200-208, 214-246, 250-260, 300, 302, 304, 305, 310-314, 320, 322, 332-337, 344, 348, 350, 352, 353, 355, 440-446, 500-520, 524, 525, 528-534, 536 and 539-544.

Buddy, I just asked an honest question after my friend called me and told me what Canadian tire informed him when trying to get his tags.
That been said I should have checked the Regs before posting the question here.
Still think been called illiterate was uncalled for.
Thanks

Default No whitetail deer supplemental

Hey guys, take it easy on the whitetail does in the eastern zones. Their numbers are down, and they can use a break. Think of the future.

Pleased that others feel the same way about this over harvest of our deer.

I have seen areas I hunt devastated by supplemental tags over the last several years. Greedy"Hunters"with a couple of does/fawns each, its a disgrace.

They should buy some beef if its only the meat they want, and limit their harvest, before the deer "Hunting"is destroyed by the cull.
