Thumbs up Let's see your wolf hunting photos!

As the title says, let's see your wolf hunting photos

Also, any tips would be greatly appreciated! I've hunted Coyotes many a time in Ontario (where I'm previously from, also I hate Ontario too) and am looking to expand into wolves now.

Currently scoping out WMU 434

No Pictures but If I were you instead of 434 I'd start looking east of there and east of the forestry trunk road in 328, 339, 429, more road access, less steep, more ungulates, hence more wolves. Not that there aren't wolves in 434, just they tend to be more wolves in areas where the prey populations are higher.

Brand new poster asking for wolf killing pics?
Haven't we been down this road before?

If you're inferring that I'm an activist or troll, I can assure you that I'm not. I can provide proof otherwise if need be, including verifying my hunting licenses & CGN/predator master forum accounts.

I understand it's a weirdly political area of hunting, but I'm just excited to get out there and hunt something new.

Default wolf

Most wolves taken by hunters are when they are after moose/elk/deer and they get lucky when one crosses their path. Trappers snare quite a few at bait sights, but lots of work and very time consuming.
Just as mentioned most of wolves in Alberta in foothill 300's WMU,s.

I guess that makes me different, I specifically target wolves, best time is after the regular seasons close, you basically have the woods to yourself. Problem being they are spread thin and travel extensively, find them though and you have a chance.

Yup, every year I vow to make the effort, and somehow I get stuck on something else (usually work) and the next thing I know, it's time to think about bears again.

Out scouting this weekend and didn't see any wolves, but did see mountain goats.

As someone who moved here from Ontario (to get away from Ontario), I now know what you all mean by road hunters. The roads were dotted with trucks stopped with one window down and a spotting scope out the window.

It's an old story and has been bumped a few times but is one of my more interesting hunting adventures. If you do a search you'll find a bunch of wolf threads on AO.

Road hunting is a productive method of finding game and many legal rams have been spotted from the highway. I have no issue spotting from the highway or road. Drive by shootings are another matter altogether.

In the year 2000 I was doing some moose calling when a large pack of wolfs ran into to a small clearing ,so I shot the leader which was the Alfa male He ranks #56 in the Alberta trophy book that comes out every 10 years.
Funny thing a few years earler, when A/O just started ,I posted that an area I was hunting had wolf tracks right across the whole oil field road . Saying that these wolfs will destroy that whole hunting zone. So I wrote , Every Dead Wolf is a Good Wolf. I guess back then it was a bad thing to say ,because every one on AO told me to leave them alone as we need them to give Balance! A lot has changed since then . We all know better now .

Ive snared a few. I dont post pics but there is no shortage of wolves in the Peace based on our trail cameras. Ive taken lots of greys, one white female, and a huge black male.
