Default Osprey Wings shutting down

For any of you that have a fly in cabin or plans to go to an outfitted camp in North Central Sask. here is some bad news.

That's bad news but with the cost of fuel I'm sure it's not going to be the last one

If it’s profitable to own and operate then I suspect some pilots and staff will look to buy it.

Maybe some other businesses will invest.

If it was run like a hobby… then it will be harder.

If the government and outfitter companies and others will sign a longer term business deal with Osprey… the banks will use that when considering a loan.

They are closing due to their age, not fuel prices.

They have it for sale no one's going to buy it if there's no profit in it

There will be profit, price will reflect the price of fuel. Lots of boomers around that worked their lives to build a good nest egg, they are spending. They are pretty much pushing the economy now.

Yes. Voyage air in Buffalo narrows seems to do alright, I've flown out of the there the past 15 years and know the owner.

Ya....fingers crossed.
I have flown with Osprey over 70 trips. Cost from La Ronge will be double what we paid from Missinipe which really sucks.
Pretty sure the business is viable but word is Gary and Bonnie's kids don't need the money and no longer want the headaches. To buy the business I have heard figures from 7 - 20 million so it certainly limits buyers.
The other bad thing is they were the largest float plane outfit in Sask. and the smaller companies from La Ronge and Buffalo Narrows are overwhelmed with flight requests already.

Oh well......wait and see......might not be a spring trip this year!

Very sad. Had a flight with Osprey out of Pelican Narrows a while back as they were covering for yet another charter company that went out of business. Hope somebody steps up to fill the void.
