Default Has anyone ever repainted vinyl siding?

Just kindof sick of the color of my house.
Way too poor to re-side it.

Has anyone ever done it ?

How effective is it? Especially with going from lighter to a darker color?

Do not do it. Waste of money. The overlap joints can expand and contract up to 3/4" from summer to winter which scrapes the paint off and leaves a heck of a mess. Every 12' you have a patch of the original siding coming through.

Price of the stuff, just replace it.

Yea

I was just gathering evidence to counter argue.

I didn't think it was a good idea

Do not paint! Some vinyl will react with paint and curl. My dad painted his sidding about 10 years ago. Guess who is taking it down and putting new one one today. Me. Sidding is around 88 cents a sq ft and up

Unless you have a mansion, the cost of all new vinyl won't be much more than the paint and will last many years and look good. It's pretty easy to work with and install.

Painted some on my house and it curled like crazy. Took it off and did it right this time with stucco. Get lots of comments on how much better it looks.

STUCCO!!!
I didn't think anyone used that anymore. I always thought it looked nice, especially with all the different colors of broken glass in it.

I've been told you can paint it if you prep properly, do some searching on google. You also need to stick with lighter colors. That said I would replace vinyl personally.

If you do paint it would definitely be cheaper. I just painted my aluminum after two years of thinking about it and it turned out great. Total price was $300 and that was good paint.
