Klingon? No, wait... wrong universe!!! I like Supes, but was always a Marvel superhero fan first.

War comics though, DC had the best... GI Combat, Sgt Rock, The Losers The Unknown Soldier. Weird War was great...

I sent in a suggestion to the RCM for a regular circulation quarter... Red Winged Blackbird.

I hope they do it...

Changing quarters don' make me feel any more Canadian. I just see it as needless expense. Every change generates design and retooling costs, and for what? More quarter sales? Waste of money IMHO.

Lots of negativity in your post Oko....kinda takes the fun out of what the original intent was here..IMHO!

Dont mean to be a debbie downer, but I dont get it?

A coin based on an American comic book hero?

Usually they are a more direct connection to characteristics of our culture or land.

The canada goose, the bluenoose, the beaver, the loons, the caribou and some of the mixed ones had a lot of native art or symbology.

If they're going to open it up to cartoon charachters when will see a spiderman and limited edition doctor doom?

Im all for cartoons and comics, that's what I grew up with on saturday mornings or at the small grocery store, but Im not getting why it gets a coin, especially an american comic hero, don't they have enough merchandising?

im pretty sure superman was dreamed up by 2 canadian jews. do you remember that crappy comercial where the young guy is showing his aunt this drawing of an un-named hero and describing him as faster than a speeding bullet. then she says you canadian kids are something else or whatever.....and thats my memory of that pos.

im sure wikipedia can shed more light on this but im too lazy.

You are partially correct. The orginal writers/illustrators of the Superman
ARE Canadian ...but...Superman fought/fights for Truth/Justice and the
American way.Whilst Superman as an intellectual property was created
by Canadians his credo was most definatly marketed towards the
American masses.

One of those is Jerry Seinfeld who is a huge Superman buff.I would not be
surprised if he had a mint condition edition of Action Comics #1 in his
collection of really expensive things such as rare paintings by Van Gogh
or Renoir or Picasso.Hell I imagine he probaly has some of the exquisite
miniature firearms made by David Kucer. He has enough money to enjoy collecting stuff like that.
